BIO
Dr. Effi Helmy Ariffin’s research interest is focused on coastal morphodynamics within diverse coastal management strategies. This field of research requires a detailed understanding of coastal processes influenced by natural hazards and anthropogenic factors. Conducting this research in the field is cumbersome due to the presence of many uncontrollable variables, particularly in developed beaches. Supportive experimental methods, such as physical modeling, provide key insights into monsoon patterns that can significantly influence coastal processes. These approaches can help us understand climate changes, including sea level rise, and apply the findings of these experiments to address coastal erosion, which is a major global problem. Among Dr. Effi’s other research interests, he explores natural protection at the beach within a monsoon environment.
